Combatant
Any agent, or any unit other than the highest level, that took part in a combat event. For the highest levels of unit present (usually armies, garrisons or fleets), use main force instead. This value is taken for granted, and does not have to be used explicitly, if a more specific event role, such as killed, wounded, or captured. For agents that were present at a combat event but cannot reasonably be described as combatants, use present instead.

Combatant is defined as broadly as possible. If an Agent was a victim of violence, they can be classed as a combatant even if they did not actively fight. Units can be classed as combatant if they were on a battlefield but not engaged with the enemy.
